The goal was to create a set of twelve icons expressing a particular place, person or thing. The icons needed to be cohesive and graphically strorng enough to be used to create branding, posters, etc. I imposed a strict color palette on myself based off of five hues, plus their tints and shades, in order to promote this cohesiveness.

The design goal was to create a set of nine icons organized around a specific theme, making sure that all icons are clearly related to each other. The secondary challenge was use these icons to create a poster for a specific purpose or setting.
Visual mission was to design a professional book jacket and endpapers for a classic novel. I chose my favorite, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. A wide range of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign techniques were employed, with great emphasis on a cohesive whole.
EndPapers
The goal was to design and layout two compatible Edgar Allan Poe short stories, with original art work for the covers, frontispieces, end papers, etc. I chose The Gold Bug and The Purloined Letter because they are both "tresure hunt" mysteries of a sort. The finished products are intended to be a visually matching pair. In addition to any original artwork, I composed the "purloined" love letter on page 21 of The Purloined Letter as I imagined it might be. Both booklets were created using Photoshop, and InDesign.
A “process book” reflecting multiple typography explorations. The book pages, including the cover, end papers, and title pages are based on the same imposed, strict grid. The content moves from letter forms, to word images, to paragraphs, all on the same grid form.

The design mission was to create a two-page recipe layout for a cookbook. Special attention was given to hierarchy of the visual elements, both images and text. Emphasis was placed on cohesiveness of text and images. Images are original pen tool drawings.
A four page magazine-style layout. Heavy use of Adobe InDesign skills. For fun, I wrote the article about my grandmother and her cooking.
Larger print version of the article I wrote is below.
A folded brochure project using InDesign skills, stressing technical proficiency and precision.
The project goal was to create a marketing tool for a fictional cosmetic retailer, in this case named “Lips, Lids, & Locks.” The concept was to create “edtions” of collectible shopping bags that would change monthly, or weekly. As a way to make the bags stand out, some kind of visual instructional information was included on each bag. For instance, answers to customer questions such as, “How can I make eyebrows more defined,” or “What would be the best lipstick shades for me?”
Additionally, each bag was designed to showcase a specific product, such as lipstick, eyeshadow, etc. The bags were also created to be eyecatching, using techniques such as color blocking, designs on the folding sides of the bags, and color on the inside of the bag.
The asssignment was to marry two different categories, in this case perfume and candy into one package design. An additional parameter was that the design would be adaptable to other similar interpretations of the design. I chose to try to make my design changeable by season. See examples below.
This package design challenge was to a marry a genre (fairytales) with a specific product (tissues.) The design is based on the tale of Aladdin and his lamp, from the One Thousand and One Arabian Nights. The storyboard progresses around the four sides of the box as Scherezade relays the story of the lamp to the King. The product name, "Whisper" tissues was chosen to emphasize the idea of Scherezade verbally spinning tales. A real life test of how the product would appear on a shelf of real tissues in a store is shown. Part of the design mission was to create a product that could inspire a series of other versions of the product. I felt that the other Arabian Nights tales would provide a rich source of visual ideas for other versions of "Whisper" tissue boxes.
